Natural Products & Biotechnology - Research

The Natural Products and Biotechnology group is composed of three senior scientists, one postdoctoral associate scientist, one PhD student, five postgraduate students, three research associates and one technician.

Research in the group has focused on two main facets:

  1. Selection, genetic and chemical characterisation and breeding of Medicinal and Aromatic plants and manipulation and Genetic engineering of secondary metabolism.
  2. Characterisation of plant components involved in resistance to oxidative stress and Programmed Cell Death.

MEDUSA Network

The first objective of the MEDUSA Network is the identification of native and naturalized plants of the Mediterranean Region, currently being used in some way. Visit the MEDUSA network website.
